| Captain Pamela Carrier began her law enforcement career with the Grand Rapids Police Department in 1980. She has served as the North Service Area Commander since the Service Area's inception in 1999. The North Service Area consists of 8 beats and is geographically the largest service area. It possesses a culturally diverse population, and contains some of the most active and participative neighborhood and business associations and community groups within the city. |
| Lt. Weitzel is the Service Area Lieutenant for the West and North Service Areas. Lieutenant Weitzel joined the Grand Rapids Police Department in March 1990. During his time with the Grand Rapids Police Department, he has worked in various units including patrol, traffic enforcement, and motorcycle team, Neighborhood Patrol Unit, and in the Training Bureau. Lieutenant Weitzel has served as a Field Training Officer and is currently a certified instructor in Emergency Vehicle Operations and Defensive Tactics. Lieutenant Weitzel is the recipient of numerous letters of commendation. He is a two-time Officer of the Year nominee, has earned five Meritorious Unit Citations, and two Commendation Medals. Lieutenant Weitzel holds an associates in art degree from Grand Rapids Community College, a bachelor of science from Grand Valley State University, and a master of science from Michigan State University. |
