Downtown Development Authority

PurposeThe Authority acts in the best interest of the City to help eliminate property deterioration, to increase property tax valuation where possible in the City's business district, to eliminate the causes of deterioration, and to promote economic growth.

MembershipThe Authority is under the supervision and control of a Board of nine members consisting of the Mayor and eight other members. At leave five of the members must have a financial interest in a downtown business or property within the district and at least one member must be a resident of the downtown district if the downtown district has 100 or more persons residing in it.
AppointmentMembers are appointed by the Mayor with approval of the City Commission on the first Monday of January.
TermEach member's term is for four years.
MeetingsThe Board meets in Conference Room 601 of City Hall at 8:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month.
