City of Grand Rapids Announces Extension of Wireless Broadband RFP Deadline
The City of Grand Rapids has extended all deadlines by three weeks for all phases of the Wireless Broadband RFP process. Required Letters of Intent to Bid are due no later than April 5, 2006. All proposals are due no later than Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:00 pm EST.
The City is seeking a vendor to construct a privately owned and operated outdoor wireless broadband network providing wireless service within the City's 45 square miles. The City is also hopeful that the selected vendor will be able to offer a low-cost solution to provide service within buildings as well. 4.9 Information -- Posted 3/09/06
The City's application for 4.9 has been approved. We have received a radio license issued to us by the Federal Communications Commission for the 4.9 gigahert band that is exclusively for public safety. The license if for fixed location radios and also for mobile radios.
Pre-proposal Vendor Conference Information -- Posted 2/24/06
The Pre-proposal Conference was held on February 16th at Grand Rapids City Hall. Proposers attended in person or by conference call. The meeting was not mandatory, but strongly encouraged.
