Combining a rich law enforcement heritage and today's theories of Community-Oriented Government, the department continues to set the standard for policing by which other police departments are judged.

Utilizing partnerships with community organizations and focusing on specific neighborhood problems, the department is dedicated to helping the citizens of Grand Rapids help themselves.  This partnership of the police working together with citizens to effect positive change is the keystone of our community policing program.
