Mission StatementBuilding and Maintaining a Better Grand Rapids! Housing Inspection is responsible for enforcing codes that govern the maintenance and upkeep of residential property, as well as various health and safety codes. Building Inspection is responsible for enforcement of the State of Michigan Building, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical codes for new construction and building renovations, as well as testing and licensing of contractors. The Development Center offers an efficient one-stop service for information, permitting, and approvals. |
IMPORTANT NOTICE - REDUCED OFFICE HOURS: Effective August 3, 2009, the hours for conducting public business at the City offices located at 1120 Monroe Avenue NW will be 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This change includes the Development Center, Engineering-Sidewalks Division, Neighborhood Improvement Department (Building & Housing Inspections), and the Planning Department.
